David Holtz, Executive Director, Progress Michigan

David Holtz is Executive Director of ProgressMichigan. ProgressMichigan was established in 2007 to provide a strong credible voice that holds public officials and government accountable and uses web based new media to creatively build grassroots support for progressive ideas.

David is the former National Communications Director for Clean Water Action where he previously served as the organization’s Michigan Director. David also worked as the Environmental Media Coordinator for 12 Michigan groups, including Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Michigan Environmental Council and the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. In that role, he pioneered the environmental news service, Echo, which is now operated by Michigan State University’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism.

David is former District Director for U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, and for more than a decade worked as a newspaper reporter covering education, courts, and politics. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Viet Nam War. David is a member of the Board of Directors of ProgressNow, the national affiliate of ProgressMichigan.
